La Mer Restaurant Review

Taking its name from the nearby sea, La Mer sits on a prime sliver of beach in Waikiki, Oahu. It’s open air, facing the Pacific Ocean with Diamond Head’s dramatic silhouette as the stunning backdrop for diners. Attentive wait staff and table men provide flawless service, yet fade into the refined background, making for a seamless dining experience. As wonderful as the surroundings and service are, though, one is just as likely to be drawn in by the exquisite food.
The menu is creatively developed with fresh island ingredients and a tropical flair I haven’t found elsewhere. Because I lived in Hawaii for years, I celebrated numerous special occasions at La Mer and have had the opportunity to taste a wonderful selection of their offerings. La Mer is worth every penny. It’s the quintessential special occasion restaurant - with great food and impeccable service - that just happens to have the good fortune of being on a beautiful island in the Pacific Ocean. Make it a point to go to La Mer when you’re in Hawaii.
