Breakfast in Bed

Saturday August 9, 2008

Few things are as relaxing and romantic as a lazy summer morning, complete with breakfast in bed, steaming coffee, and the newspaper. Café au lait, served in a ceramic bowl, is the classic French breakfast beverage. Most French breakfasts are light according to American standards, consisting of coffee, sometimes hot chocolate, and a roll or toast. Here, I’ve padded the menu a bit with vanilla Cognac crepes stuffed with caramelized apples. To gild the lily, drizzle a little Calvados crème anglaise over the finished crepes and apples. Bon appetit!
