Saffron Rice Recipe

Wednesday December 17, 2008

Saffron is a spice commonly used in the recipes of southern France and it is frequently paired with rice. This saffron rice recipe is excellent served with steamed vegetables for the holidays. Try it with a traditional gros souper menu. Bon appetit and joyeux Noel!

While we're on the topic of rice, you might want to check out FreeRice, a website that gives 100% of its proceeds to the United Nations World Food Program. The site features an addictive vocabulary game that donates free rice to needy people with each correctly answered question. Have fun; I promise you'll have a hard time not clicking "just one more time."

Virtual Cookie Exchange

Our Guide to Mexican Food has a delicious recipe for Mexican Wedding Cakes, delicate shortbread-style cookies made with chopped, roasted pecans, rolled in powdered sugar. They make an elegant addition to any fiesta.
