Best Non-Vintage Sparkling Wines

Saturday December 27, 2008

New Year’s Eve is the time to celebrate with a special bottle of French bubbly. Non-vintage sparkling wines from France are fairly easy to find at most stores. When looking for a celebratory sparkling wine – the kind served at receptions and after dessert at parties – check for a good balanced body, lightly zingy fruit notes, a touch of creamy floral, and a dry, crispy finish. Of course, this is subjective; finding the wine of your dreams is rarely as simple as buying from another person’s wish list. The solution is purely pleasurable trial and error as you sip your way to finding the perfect bottle. In the meantime, here is a selection of non-vintage, French sparkling wines and Champagne - all under $40 - to help ring in the New Year.
