Total Time: 25 minutes
- 1 half-gallon apple cider
- 2 teaspoons orange zest
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 3 whole cloves
- 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/4 cup fresh cranberries (optional)
How to make hot apple cider:
Mix all the ingredients together in a large saucepan. Bring the mixture to just under a simmer over the lowest heat setting on the stovetop. Do not allow the cider to boil. Continue cooking the apple cider on the lowest setting for 20 minutes. Strain the spices and berries from the cider by pouring it through a fine-mesh sieve or a cheesecloth-lined collander. Serve hot.
