Traditional cheese and herb croûtes are great, but for a deliciously unexpected hit of flavor, try this homemade olive croutons recipe. It's literally as easy as 1-2-3, using only bread, olive oil, and tapenade for ingredients. Try these unique garnishes with a simple garden tomato bisque for the most impact.

Cook's note: Nearly any bread, from country white to sourdough to whole-grain, works beautifully in this olive croutons recipe.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices country bread, cubed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons tapenade

Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 375F. Toss the bread with the olive oil and tapenade until the bread is thoroughly coated with the mixture. Arrange the bread slices in a single layer on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake the bread for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring once.

Remove the croutons from the oven when they turn golden brown and use them within 1 day.
