Corsican Mendiant au Chocolat Blanc

By Rebecca Franklin, About.com

White chocolate is the perfect catalyst for the warm Mediterranean flavors of Corsica: walnuts, dates, and orange zest.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3 oz white chocolate
  • 3 tablespoons walnuts, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons dried dates, chopped
  • 1 ½ teaspoons crystallized orange peel, finely chopped

Preparation:

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler filled with barely simmering water. Drop the chocolate onto the parchment in heaping teaspoonfuls, smoothing each drop into a 2-inch circle. Working quickly, sprinkle the walnuts, dates, and orange peel over the chocolate disks before they set up.

Makes 8 servings.
