Spiced Cranberry Relish

Oranges and sweet spices really perk up the already bracing flavor of tart, fresh cranberries in this spiced cranberry relish. Serve it as a refreshing, palate-cleansing side dish or a light dessert to accompany a big meal.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries, rinsed
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons fresh orange zest

Preparation:

In a small saucepan, bring the orange juice, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, and cloves to a simmer. Remove the mixture from the heat and allow it to cool to room temperature. Crush the berries, spice mixture, sugar, and orange zest in a food processor on the pulse setting. Serve at room temperature or chilled.

This spiced cranberry relish makes 6 servings.
