What is the name and homepage of your French food blog?
Do you maintain it alone or use contributors?
I maintain it alone.
When did you start your blog?
April 2008.
Why did you start your blog?
A couple of years ago I realized it was time for me to get a job, but even though my kids were getting older I still wanted to be present at home for them. I have lived in France for 18+ years and, of course, love French food! Doing a blog on simple French cooking was the ideal solution.
What is your favorite part of being a food blogger?
I've really come to enjoy photographing food - although I have a lot to learn. But I think my most favorite thing is that I get to cook wonderful food for my family and make a living off of it. Doing a food blog involves my family in my work - I love the seamlessness in that.
What does your French food blog cover?
Just about anything French. I try to stay somewhat focused on easy recipes and food products, but the two are invariably mixed in with culture here in France. I love to report on all the wonderful stories surrounding French food. The emphasis though is always on simplicity. My byline is all of the elegance . . . none of the fuss.
Lessons Learned
- The audience rules. Try to find out what people are interested in and provide them with that information. Don't try a new recipe, photograph it, and serve dinner all at once, especially not after 6 pm!
