What is the name and homepage of your French food blog?
Do you maintain it alone or use contributors?
I'm on my own.
When did you start your blog?
I started in 2008. I had just moved to the south of France after living a decade in Amsterdam.
Why did you start your blog?
I simply wanted a space of my own in which to explore the things I love. Food is a central part of that. Doesn't sound entirely healthy...but it's true!
What is your favorite part of being a food blogger?
The process of sharing what excites me; the idea/hope of beginning a conversation, deepening an understanding--or simply helping someone to make a dish in which they will hopefully take great satisfaction.
What does your French food blog cover?
I tend to cover some culinary history, fruits and veg that are in season, my own favorite dishes, learned and developed in France...I try to give a sense of the tactile pleasure inherent in making simple foods--nearly all of which happen to be French.
My blog is also about life in France, which is an important shaping element in French food. Ingredient availability, origin--understanding all that and getting a sense of place through photos helps, I hope, to better appreciate the drink or food in front of you.
There are no hard and fast rules: I also occasionally visit other countries, but I think the comparisons of food and lifestyle help (eventually!) give focus to what exactly is French about food in France. Well, that's what I hope, anyway.
Lessons Learned
- I would put watermarks on all my photos (but I still haven't gotten around to figuring out how.)
- It isn't always easy to begin a dialogue online. I am still hoping to find others with similar interests--thus my own interest in being posted here!
